Michael Machtinger
Deputy Assistant Director, Federal Bureau of Investigation
Michael Machtinger has worked for the FBI since 2007. Since June 2025, he has been the Deputy Assistant Director for Intelligence and Policy within the FBI's Cyber Division. Previously, he led FBI Cyber engagement with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and additional US intelligence community partners. He was also responsible for the operation of the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center and CyWatch, a 24/7 cyber operations center. Michael has held a variety of roles at FBI headquarters, including Chief of Terrorism Analysis. He has experience leading both analytic and target discovery efforts across a variety of threats and was a supervisor at the FBI’s Washington Field Office. Prior to his FBI service, Michael worked for the International Monetary Fund in a variety of research and technology-focused roles.
