Ms. Burnside is Practice Leader for Cyber Crisis Communications at Mandiant, now part of Google Cloud. As a founding member of the practice, Ms. Burnside helps clients be er manage risk by providing comprehensive proactive and reactive cyber crisis communications services for customers worldwide. Working alongside technical teams, she helps clients evaluate risks as incidents unfold and manage all communication activities across their internal and external stakeholders. She advises clients with proactive communications planning including building crisis communications playbooks as well as developing and facilitating executive tabletop exercises based on adversary intelligence and best practices developed by responding to the latest attacks. With over 25 years of experience in both private and public sector environments, Ms. Burnside has a solid background in cyber crisis response and strategic communications management. Working as a Senior Executive in federal law enforcement and the U.S. intelligence community, she’s led FBI communications, operations, and community engagement teams. A proven strategic planner, operator, and liaison excelling in high-pressure situations, including global cyber crisis events and data breaches, she has a thorough understanding of malware, computer forensics, and tactics, techniques, and procedures leveraged by threat actors. She is also an experienced incident manager, with particular emphasis in handling complex ransomware incidents, and specializes in helping clients and their boards evaluate and manage operational and reputational risks through sound communication strategies.
